NMSC Member John A. McGrath Has Passed Away
John A. McGrath, 64, a 28 year resident of Romeo, died Tuesday, November 7 at home. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Robin, son John R. McGrath (Kelly Barbier), mother Madelyn Z. McGrath, sister Zita M. Burton (Guy), sister-in-law Patti Deneau, granddaughter Claire McGrath and many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John J. McGrath (1983) and beloved daughter Kelly E. McGrath on January 12, 1998. The McGrath family are parishioners of the St. Clement Catholic Church.
He was an avid outdoorsman, 1995 Michigan Bowhunter of the Year and a lifetime member of the North Macomb Sportsman Club. His hunting travels took him to many places, including Alaska, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri. His cabin in the Upper Peninsula remained his favorite spot.
He restored classic cars and was a member of the GM Design Staff Employee Car Show. He retired with 30 years from General Motors as a Team Leader of the Experimental Paint Department at GM Design Staff.
His sense of humor, love of his family, passion for the outdoors and Irish wit will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Roth Muir Funeral in Romeo on Sunday, November 12 from 3-7 p.m. Mass will be held at the St. Clement Catholic Church on Monday, November 13 at 10 a.m. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may direct them to Karmanos Cancer Center or a charity of their choice.
